Forney ISD Athletic Director Honored with the Neal Jeffrey Leadership Award by the Fellowship of Chr
Forney ISD Athletic Director, Neal Weaver was recently awarded the Neal Jeffrey Leadership Award by the Greater Dallas/Ft. Worth Chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). Danny Noah, the Area Director/Camp Ministry Director for the Dallas/Ft. Worth Chapter of the FCA, presented Weaver with the award.
The Neal Jeffrey Leadership Award is named after Neal Jeffrey, a pastor, author, speaker and former Baylor and National Football League quarterback. Jeffrey has been a dedicated volunteer with FCA and has served in church ministry for a number of years. Recipients of the Neal Jeffrey Award are men or women volunteers whose life and work exemplifies a commitment to being ‘servant leaders’.
Weaver began his career in Forney ISD in 2001 as an English and history teacher and coach. He was later named the girl’s athletic coordinator at Forney High School. In 2009 he was named the Assistant Athletic Director for the District before being named the Forney ISD Athletic Director in 2011.
Since becoming the Athletic Director for Forney ISD, Weaver has worked with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes to develop and build a number of programs to benefit student athletes. One of the biggest programs Weaver implemented in the District is the Character Coach Program, a program that brings adult volunteers into the District to mentor one-on-one with Forney ISD student athletes.
Weaver has also worked with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes to build a community initiative program to support the District and athletic programs that includes state representatives and professional athletes. The Fellowship of Christian Athletes is also the sponsor of the Unity Bowl, the annual game between the Forney High School and North Forney High School varsity football teams.
The Fellowship of Christian Athletes engages coaches to grow in their faith.
