Forney ISD Holds Board Retirement Reception for Keith Bell


The Forney Independent School District and the Forney ISD Board of Trustees recently held a Board of Trustees Retirement Reception for retiring board member Keith Bell. Mr. Bell served on the Forney ISD Board of Trustees for 20 years devoting his time, service and leadership to the students and staff of the District. Mr. Bell retired from the Forney ISD Board of Trustees in May after winning his primary race for Texas House District 4 Representative.

The reception, which was held on Monday, June 25 in the Board Room at the Forney ISD Central Administration Building, included honors, recognition and presentations to Mr. Bell by the City of Forney, the Forney Education Foundation, outgoing State House District 4 Representative Lance Gooden, the Class 5A State Champion Forney High School softball team, current and former members of the Forney ISD Board of Trustees and Forney ISD Superintendent Suzanne McWilliams.

Mr. Bell was first elected to the Forney ISD Board of Trustees in 1998. In his first year on the board, Forney ISD had a total of four schools and approximately 3,000 students. Today the District has a total of 14 campuses and more than 10,000 students. During his tenure on the board Forney ISD has built eight elementary schools, a second middle school and a second high school.

The Forney ISD Board of Trustees approved Mrs. Becky Dobbs to replace Mr. Bell on the board. Mrs. Dobbs has served on the Forney ISD before, once from 2000 to 2006 and from 2008 to 2014. She was sworn onto the board at special called board meeting on Monday, June 25 and will serve on the board for the remainder of Mr. Bell's term.
