Forney High School Softball Team Advances to State Championship Tournament


The Forney High School Girls Softball Team defeated Hallsville in the Regional Finals in a three game series on Thursday, May 24 and Friday, May 25 to advance to the University Interscholastic League (UIL) Class 5A State Championship Tournament. The team won the first game of the series against Hallsville 4-1 and the second game 4-3.

Forney advances to the state championship tournament for the fourth time. The last time the team advanced was 2012. The Lady Jackrabbits will play in the 5A semifinal game against Mont Belvieu Barbers Hill at noon on Friday, June 1 at the University of Texas McCombs Field in Austin, Texas. The winner of the game will advance to the state championship game.

The four teams that are in the 5A state championship tournament are Forney, Mont Belvieu Barbers Hill, Fort Worth Arlington Heights and Richmond Foster.

The state championship game is scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 2 at 3 p.m., also at McCombs Field in Austin.
