Forney ISD Teachers Receive Grants from Tanger Outlets
Two teachers in the Forney Independent School District were recently awarded grants by Tanger Outlets, Terrell to support educational programs in their classrooms. The teachers who were awarded grants include Cindy Brunson from Claybon Elementary School and Kristi Hopkins from Johnson Elementary School.
Brunson, a 6th grade teacher at Claybon Elementary, was awarded a grant to support struggling readers in her classroom. The grant money will be used to purchase electronic dictionaries that the 6th grade English and Language Arts Dyslexic students can use at the school.
Hopkins, a 6th grade math teacher at Johnson Elementary School, was awarded a Breakout EDU Kit which consists of five lock boxes, a hex lock with seven different types of locks, instructions, a black light pen, black light flashlights, hint cards and more. The kits will allow teachers at Johnson Elementary to set up challenges for students to simultaneously meet Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) aligned goals while breaking out of a challenge by using critical thinking.
