Forney ISD Announces New School Names and Logos for the Forney Academic Center, Rhea Elementary and
At the start of the 2018-19 school year, Forney ISD will consolidate all Pre-K classes across the District into one location at the District's current Forney Academic Center. Based on the new educational model of the facility, the District has renamed the school to reflect the new changes that will take place with the start of the upcoming school year.
The District announced the new changes for the school during the Forney ISD Board of Trustees regular monthly board meeting on Monday, May 14. The new name for the Forney Academic Center will be the Forney Learning Academy. The school will be reconstructed to house all of the District's early education programs including Pre-K, Pre-K Dual Language, Head Start and the Pre-School Program for Children with Disabilities (PPCD). The District's GOALS and DAEP programs will be housed in a separate section of the school.
The District also presented the new logo for the Forney Learning Academy. The new logo for the Forney Learning Center will be a graphic design of a tree with leaves that match Forney High School and North Forney High School colors.
The Early Education programs will also have a new logo. The design of the logo is an acorn, a graphic representation of acorns that grow into oaks.
In addition to the renaming and re-branding of the Forney Academic Center, the District also announced the renaming of Rhea Elementary School and Smith Elementary School, the two campuses that will be converted into intermediate schools with the start of the 2019-20 school year. The new names for the schools will be Rhea Intermediate School and Smith Intermediate School. Both schools will house 5th and 6th grade students.
A new logo design was also developed for both intermediate schools as well. The schools will keep their current mascots (Rhea - Eagles/Smith - Sharks); but will have new logo graphics representing each school.
The new school mascots and logos for Rhea Intermediate and Smith Intermediate were designed by Adrienne Aguilar, one of the District's Synergy Students from Forney High School. Aguilar also redesigned the school logo for Henderson Elementary School early this year.
