Forney ISD Announces New Principals for North Forney High School and Forney High School

When classes resume following the summer break, both North Forney High School and Forney High School will be under new leadership with the addition of two new principals starting with the 2018-19 school year. Forney ISD announced on Friday, April 27 that the new principal for North Forney High School will be Brandi Hosack and the new principal at Forney High School will be Dr. Jonathan Campbell.

Forney ISD received more than 100 applications for the high school principal positions at North Forney High School and Forney High School. District administrators identified and interviewed the top ten candidates and seven of those candidates moved on to the final round of interviews which consisted of a panel of parents, students, staff and community members. The criteria for determining the selections of the principals consisted of data and feedback received from parent, staff and student surveys.

Hosack comes to North Forney High School from W. Charles Akins High School in the Austin Independent School District in Austin, Texas where she led the school to national recognition. She was named the 2017 Principal of the Year by Austin ISD and Akins High School was ranked as one of the Best High Schools in the Nation by U.S. News & World Reports in 2017.

Since being named the principal at Akins High School in 2015, Hosack has increased the graduation rate by seven percent, decreased the dropout rate by 70 percent and decreased home and in-school suspensions by 45 percent.

Hosack has also served as an assistant principal at Akins High School and the Director of the New Tech Academy at Akins High School. She began her career in education in 2004 as a Biology teacher and softball coach. She also taught AP Biology and pre-AP Chemistry at Akins. Hosack also taught Biology at Samuel Clemens High School in Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD.

Hosack received her Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology and Biology from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas and earned her Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from the University of Texas in Austin, Texas. She holds a principal certification and is state certified in physical education, life science and science composite.

Hosack replaces Courtney Peck who has accepted an administration position with the Allen Independent School District. Peck will finish out the remainder of the school year at North Forney High School.

The District also announced that Dr. Jonathan Campbell has been named the new principal at Forney High School. Dr. Campbell comes to Forney ISD from Whitehouse High School in the Whitehouse Independent School District in Whitehouse, Texas.

Dr. Campbell began his career in education as a Career and Technology teacher at Crosby High School in Crosby ISD in Crosby, Texas and at Atascocita High School in the Humble Independent School District.

During his four year term as the principal at Whitehouse High School, the campus has seen double digit gains in mastery level performance on all End of Course state exams. Dr. Campbell has also implemented character and mentor programs for both students and staff. He is a certified ALICE safety trainer and his consistent positive discipline management approach has yielded a reduction in discipline referrals by more than 65 percent in two years.

In addition to his leadership in Whitehouse, his campus administration experience includes serving as the Assistant Principal at Atascocita and at Kingwood High School in Humble ISD. He is a Stakeholder Member and a Field Supervisor for Aspiring Principals for the College of Education and Psychology with the University of Texas in Tyler, Texas. He is also a board representative for the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals for Region VII.

“I am honored and excited to join Forney High School that has such a rich history and a standard of excellence,” Dr. Campbell stated. “With the help of students, teachers, parents, and community members we will continue the Forney High School legacy of inspiring students through innovative ways.”

Dr. Campbell received his Bachelor’s Degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas where he also earned his Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership. He completed his Doctorate Degree in Executive Educational Leadership from the University of Houston in Houston, Texas.

In addition, Dr. Campbell has published numerous articles on classroom management, student achievement, effective partnerships and management success.

He holds a superintendent certification, a principal certification, a Master Teacher of Technology certification, a technology applications certification and a secondary business composite certification.

Dr. Campbell replaces Stephen Whiffen as principal at Forney High School. Whiffen was recently named the principal at the Forney Academic Center. Whiffen will complete the remainder of the school year at Forney High School.
