Forney ISD AFJROTC Cadets Hold Annual Awards Ceremony
The Forney ISD Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC) held its 10th Annual Local and National Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 in the Forney High School Performing Arts Center. Local and National Veteran’s Organizations and the Forney ISD Administration recognized exceptional performers by presenting ribbons, medals and certificates to Forney’s outstanding cadets in front of their family, friends and peers.
The ceremony brings with it a rich tradition of recognizing cadet leaders that dates back to the first AFJROTC class in 2008. The cadets really look forward to this ceremonial tradition as each will proudly wear the medals and ribbons on their uniforms throughout the
day showcasing their achievements.
Congratulations is also in order for senior Cadets Rhane Bishop and Aidan Odle! The American Legion Post 591 presented scholarships to these outstanding cadets! The money presented will be used to supplement their attendance to the college of their choice in the fall.
The following cadets were also recognized for enlisting with United States Army, and United States Marines Corps: Cadet Joshua Bene (Army), Cadet Kyle Keenan (Army) and Cadet Daniel Fisher (Marines Corps). All cadets will ship out to basic training this summer to proudly serve their country.
The ceremony ended with the Unit Change of Command where the torch was passed and the Cadet Group Commander Lieutenant Colonel Chilton Conner assumed command of the Cadet Group.
Congratulations to all of the Forney ISD AFJROTC cadets!
