Forney ISD Announces 2017-18 Campus Teachers of the Year
Forney ISD recently announced the 2017-18 Campus Teachers of the Year for each school in the District. The announcements were made on Thursday, April 19 and Friday, April 20 at each campus.
The Teachers of the Year in Forney ISD must meet certain requirements to be nominated and considered to be named the Teacher of the Year at their school. The teacher should seek to carry out FISD’s vision by "Inspiring Students through Innovative Education"; have a strong sense of values, integrity, and professional ethics; be an exceptional dedicated, knowledgeable, and skilled teacher; inspire students of all backgrounds and abilities to learn; be dedicated to providing the highest level of education to all students; have the respect and admiration of students, and colleagues; have a strong sense of values, integrity, and professional ethics; be energetic, enthusiastic, and have a positive attitude; and serve as an instructional role model and leader on their campus.

Henderson Elementary - Lecia Garner - 6th Grade Math
Johnson Elementary - Teri Everett--Music
Lewis Elementary - Raven Kirkland - 5th grade math
Rhea Elementary - Dianna Hellenguard - 5th and 6th grade Dual Language Math
Smith Elementary - Heather Ford - 1st grade teacher
Brown Middle School - Dawn Sheets - 8th grade Advanced Science
Warren Middle School - Stacey Wetzel - English - Grade 7th and 8th / ESL
Forney High School - Sean Worrell - 10th/11th grade PAP Algebra 2
North Forney High School - Mason Leech - US History
Forney Academic Center - Michele Preston - Next Steps Teacher
The 2017-18 Forney ISD Campus Teachers of the Year will be recognized by the Forney ISD Board of Trustees at the May 14 monthly board meeting. The District Elementary and Secondary Teachers of the Year will also be announced at the meeting.
