North Forney High School Indoor Percussion Ensemble Sets a Record at NTCA Championships
On Saturday, April 14 the North Forney High School Indoor Percussion Ensemble competed in the North Texas Colorguard Association (NTCA) Championship to defend their 2017 championship title. The NTCA Championship is the culmination of a season of five contests that began in February.
Going into the championship round competition, North Forney was seated in first place. In the championship competition, North Forney earned the first place gold medal with a score of 94.95, the highest score out of 38 participating ensembles. The NFHS Indoor Percussion Ensemble's score of 94.95 is the highest percussion score ever obtained by a percussion group in the 25 year history of the NTCA.
In addition, a total of 90 indoor percussion ensembles competed at two circuit championships on the same day. North Forney High School's Indoor Percussion score was the highest of any ensemble score across the state. This reflects the judges’ appreciation of an outstanding performance that was both technical and precise.
The next performance of the North Forney Percussion Group is Saturday, May 5 at 5:30 p.m. in the North Forney High School Auditorium. Admission is free, and the group will perform a variety of percussion music including the 2018 championship indoor production entitled The End of Days.
