North Forney High School Principal Accepts STEAM Center Administration Position with Allen ISD
North Forney High School Principal, Courtney Peck Sharkey recently announced that she has accepted an offer from the Allen Independent School District to be the new administrator at the Allen ISD Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Math (STEAM) Center. Peck will remain the principal at North Forney High School for the remainder of the 2017-18 school year before beginning her new position with Allen ISD for the 2018-19 school year.
“Serving the students, staff and families of Forney ISD has truly been an honor,” Peck stated. “I have nothing but the deepest affection for the faculty and administration of North Forney High School and all of Forney ISD. I will be forever grateful for the opportunity that the District has provided me to grow as a leader and to develop lifelong relationships. I am excited for the future of North Forney as it continues to develop a culture of its own and for the future of Forney ISD under Dr. Terry’s leadership. Although it is hard to step away, recent changes with my family life have made it very difficult to invest the time and energy into our campus that I feel it deserves.”
Peck came to Forney ISD in 2014 as the Consultant for Intervention and Assessment at Forney High School before being named an assistant principal at North Forney High School in 2015. Peck was later named the interim principal at North Forney High School, filling the position to complete the school year when then North Forney High School Principal, Dr. Jason Johnston accepted a principal position outside of Forney ISD.
In April of 2016, the Forney ISD Board of Trustees approved Peck as the full time principal at North Forney High School.
Peck has 15 years of experience in public education. She taught English Language Arts for seven years in Louisiana and has served in a variety of administrative roles throughout her career in education, including serving as a district STEM supervisor.
Peck received her Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana where she also earned her Master’s degree in Adult Education and her Specialist in Educational Leadership. She is currently pursuing her Doctorate of Educational Administration from Texas A&M University Commerce in Commerce, Texas.
Forney ISD will post and begin interviewing candidates for the principal position at North Forney High School immediately.
