University Interscholastic League Announces Classification and District Realignments
The University Interscholastic League (UIL) announced classification and district realignments for football and basketball for the 2018-19 and 2019-20 school years on Thursday, Feb. 1. The league realigns all high schools across the state every other year and the realignments are in place for two years.
Both Forney High School and North Forney High School will remain in the same 5A classification for the next two years. Both schools will compete in Region 2, District 8 in football and in Region 2, District 13 in basketball.
Football
Forney High School and North Forney High School were realigned into District 8 in football with seven other schools making the district a nine team district. Schools in football District 8 include:
Corsicana
Ennis
Forney
Greenville
Kaufman
North Forney
Royse City
Sulpher Springs
Terrell
Basketball
Both teams will compete in District 13 in basketball. A total of seven teams make up District 13 in basketball. Those teams include:
Forney
Kaufman
Lancaster
Mesquite Poteet
North Forney
Terrell
West Mesquite

UIL alignments are determined by enrollment at each high school. The enrollment figures are reported to the UIL in October to begin the realignment process. Forney High School's enrollment that was reported to the UIL was 1,453 and North Forney High School's enrollment was 1,588.
The UIL classified schools with enrollments between 1,150 and 2,189 into 5A. There are two divisions within the 5A classification, Division I and Division II. Division I includes schools with enrollments between 1,840 and 2,189 and Division II includes schools with enrollments between 1,150 and 1,839. Both Forney High School and North Forney High School will compete in Division II in both football and basketball.
