Rhea Elementary and North Forney High School Win FCA Unity Bowl Canned Food Drive Competitions
Forney ISD recently held the 2017 FCA Unity Bowl Canned Food Drive in connection with the FCA Unity Bowl football game between Forney High School and North Forney High School. All of the schools in Forney ISD participated in the canned food drive to benefit the Forney Food Pantry.
As a whole, Forney ISD donated a total of 35,412 food items to the Forney Food Pantry through the FCA Unity Bowl Canned Food Drive, the largest amount of food items ever collected during the FCA Unity Bowl Canned Food Drive.
The District also held a competition between the elementary schools and the secondary
schools (middle schools and high schools) during the canned food drive. The winners of the competition were awarded the FCA Unity Bowl Canned Food Drive Trophy.
The elementary school that collected the most donations during the 2017 FCA Unity Bowl Canned Food Drive was Rhea Elementary which collected a total of 6,531 food donations this year. Rhea Elementary also had the largest number of donations of any school in the District.
The secondary school that had the highest number of donations this year was North Forney High School. The school collected a total of 6,327 food donations this year. It is the second year in a row that North Forney High School has won the FCA Unity Bowl Canned Food Drive Secondary competition.
