Forney High School Theatre Students Earn National Honors, Demarest Named State Officer
Several theatre students from Forney High School recently participated in the Texas Thespian State Festival at the Gaylord Texas Hotel and Resort, Nov. 16-18. The students participated in workshops, competitions, performances, social activities and leadership training.
Several of the Forney High School students participating in the festival were selected as National Qualifiers and Finalist Qualifiers.
Lilia Harlan and Sarah Shambaugh-(Duet Acting) were named National Qualifiers and Finalists at the event. Other National Qualifiers from Forney High School included Luke Riggs and Meagan Davis-(Duet Acting); D'Kameron Edmonson and Hannah Kelly-(Duet Acting); Tanner Diggs and Gabbi Enriquez-(Duet Musical); Alli Crabtree and Zane Syjansky-(Duet Musical) and Trace Killian and Gage Wadley-(Duet Musical).
State Thespian Officers were also selected at the festival. These students spend the following school year representing the state at theatrical events as part of Texas Thespian leadership networking, and promoting the celebration of theatre in Texas schools.
One of the new State Thespian Officers will be Forney High School theatre student, Kenzie Demarest.
As a state officer, Demarest will offer a day of Leadership Training and a workshop about the process of applying to become a State Thespian Officer at their Summer Day of Leadership mid-June in Central Texas.
