Several Forney ISD Schools Receive Distinction Honors from the Texas Education Agency
The Texas Education Agency (TEA) recently released information from the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness, (STAAR) test results as well as campus and district distinctions for the 2016-2017 school year. Forney ISD received a Met Standards rating for the school year and several campuses received honor distinctions as well.
The TEA provides two ratings for schools and districts based on the STAAR test results; Met Standards or Improvement Required. Every campus in Forney ISD as well as the District earned a Met Standards rating for the 2016-2017 school year.
In addition to the Met Standards rating, several schools in Forney ISD also earned distinctions including Forney High School which earned a total of three distinctions.

Warren Middle School earned a distinction for Top 25 Percent Student Progress and Blackburn Elementary School and Criswell Elementary School both earned a distinction for Academic Achievement in Science. Smith Elementary School earned a distinction for Top 25 Percent Closing Performance Gaps.

Academic Achievement in English Language Arts/Reading (campus only)
Academic Achievement in Mathematics (campus only)
Academic Achievement in Science (campus only)
Academic Achievement in Social Studies (campus only)
Top 25 Percent: Student Progress (campus only)
Top 25 Percent: Closing Performance Gaps (campus only)

A campus earns a distinction designation if it is in the top quartile (Q1) of its comparison group for at least 33 percent (for high schools and K–12 campuses) or 50 percent (for elementary and middle schools) of the indicators used to award the distinction.
