Criswell Elementary School Teacher Selected as the CLD Outstanding Teacher of the Year
Criswell Elementary School teacher Jennifer Ozuna was recently notified that she has been selected as the Council for Learning Disabilities (CLD) Outstanding Teacher of the Year. The award is presented by the CLD and recognizes outstanding teachers who are CLD members and who consistently provide quality instruction to students with learning disabilities. These teachers, selected by local chapters, provide direct services to students.
Ozuna, a Special Education-Resource/Content Mastery Teacher at Criswell Elementary School will be honored at the 2017 CLD International Conference in Baltimore, Maryland which will be held October 19 and 20.
Ozuna was also named the Criswell Elementary School Teacher of the Year for the 2016-2017 school year.
"Jennifer is positive, helpful, and a caring teacher," said Criswell Elementary School Principal Rachel Bonner. "She works tirelessly to build relationships with her students and parents. She seeks out innovative and creative ways to present curriculum so that students are able to understand even the hardest concepts. Standards are set high for her students and she goes above and beyond to help them reach their full potential."
The Council for Learning Disabilities (CLD) is an international organization composed of professionals who represent diverse disciplines, is committed to enhancing the education and quality of life for individuals with learning disabilities across the life span. CLD accomplishes this by promoting and disseminating evidence-based research and practices related to the education of individuals with learning disabilities. In addition, CLD fosters (a) collaboration among professionals; (b) development of leaders in the field; and (c) advocacy for policies that support individuals with learning disabilities at local, state, and national levels.
"The smile that Jennifer comes to Criswell with each day is contagious," Bonner added. "Her positive outlook on teaching, her belief that all students can learn and her willingness to serve others makes Jennifer a valuable asset to Criswell and to Forney ISD as a whole!"
