Forney High School Highsteppers Win Numerous Awards at HTE Dance State Championship

The Forney High School Highsteppers and Star Dancers recently competed in the HTE Dance Texas State Championship and won numerous awards.

The Highsteppers were named Grand Champions, an awarded presented to the team with the highest scores regardless of division and Grand Champion Officer Line.

The squad was also named the Large Team Division Champion, the Select Team Division Champion, the Officer Line Division Champion and the Junior Varsity Team Division Champion.

In addition, the team earned a number of top places including 1st Runner-Up Officer Jazz, 1st Place Officer Lyrical, 1st Place Officer Novelty, 1st Place Junior Varsity Novelty, 1st Place Large Team Novelty, 1st Place Large Team Open, 1st Place Junior Varsity Pom, 1st Place Large Team Pom, 1st Place Large Team Production and 1st Place Junior Varsity Prop.

The Highsteppers also received the Presentation Award, the Showmanship Award, the Entertainment Award, the Precision Award, the Technique Award, the Choreography Award and the Super Sweepstakes Award.

A number of individuals on the squad also won top honors including Mallorie McFarlin who was named the 9th-10th Grade Solo Champion, Savannah Cottrell who placed 3rd in the 9th-10th Grade Solo and Brynn Weber who took 7th Place in the 11th-12th Solo.
