Forney ISD Board of Trustees Approve New Athletic Coodinator/Head Football Coach for North Forney Hi
The Forney ISD Board of Trustees approved a new Athletic Coordinator and Head Football Coach for North Forney High School during the February monthly board meeting held on Monday, Feb. 6, 2017. Randy Jackson, currently the Head Football Coach at Grapevine High School in the Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District was approved by the board as North Forney High School’s new Athletic Coordinator and Head Football Coach. Jackson replaces Lance Gary who recently announced that he was stepping down from his position as Head Coach and Athletic Coordinator at the school.
Jackson has 17 years of experience as a Head Football Coach and has amassed a record of 140 wins and 62 losses including a record of 20-13 in the state playoffs. He has served as the Head Football Coach at Grapevine High School since 2014 where he has led the Mustangs to an overall record of 21-11. Jackson took over a team at Grapevine High School that won a total of three games in 2013 and in two seasons turned the program around finishing the 2016 season with a 10-2 record.
Prior to taking over the head coaching position at Grapevine High School, Jackson was the Head Football Coach at Plano East High School, Mesquite Poteet High School, Lone Oak High School, DeKalb High School, Mason High School and Paducah High School.
Jackson’s tenure at Mesquite Poteet High School, a team that is currently in North Forney High School’s District, ran from 2010-2013 where he compiled an overall record of 30-9 and led the Pirates to the state semi–finals in 2010 with a record of 12-3 and to the state quarterfinals in 2012 with an 11-3 record.
“Randy Jackson is an accomplished football coach and a proven leader and winner,” said Forney ISD Director of Athletics Neal Weaver. “From an exceptional field of candidates Coach Jackson emerged as the man we know will build a dynamic and exciting culture for North Forney.”
Jackson received his Bachelor’s Degree in Health and Physical Education with a Minor in Social Studies from Northeast Louisiana University (now Louisiana-Monroe) in Monroe, Louisiana. He and his wife Shannon have two children, Russell, 17 and Katie, 14. Shannon is an 8th Grade Math Teacher.
