Forney ISD AFJROTC Cadets Win Top Honors at Wylie East Drill Competition
The Forney ISD Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC) cadets recently competed at the Wylie East Drill Competition and placed in top spots in three events. The competition consisted of 23 schools in the North Texas area.
The Forney ISD Saber Team won First Place at the competition. The unit is commanded by Cadet 1st Lieutenant Benjamin Barnes. The District’s Un-Armed Drill Team, commanded by Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Aidan Odle, took Second Place at the competition. The Un-Armed Drill Team competition involves a 60-step marching competition. The Forney ISD AFJROTC Armed Team captured Third Place at the Wylie East Competition. The Armed Team is under the command of Cadet Captain Leighland Stovall.
The Wylie East JROTC Competition was judged by Active Duty and National Guard Air Force and Active Duty Marines as well as ROTC students from Baylor University, the University of North Texas and Texas A&M University at College Station, Texas.
