Forney ISD Recognizes Board of Trustee Members
Students in Forney ISD recognized the members of the Forney ISD Board of Trustees at the January Board of Trustees Meeting on Monday, January 9.
In Forney ISD, the Board of Trustees are some of the most selfless volunteers in and around Forney. They are involved with their community, neighbors, parents and everything in between. They are the front-line advocates ensuring quality education opportunities for every child. They serve without the expectation of a paycheck in a position where they act as guardians of two of the community’s most precious resources—our children and our tax dollars.
Everyone understands that school board members attend meetings, but those hours represent just a fraction of the actual time that they devote to the district. In addition to spending many hours reading and preparing for each meeting, they also attend extracurricular events to support our schools. They participate in professional development opportunities to learn how to be better board members. And often they are involved in other local events, representing themselves, their community, and their district. Many of these activities take them away from time that could be spent with their own family. Their sacrifice may be overlooked, but their work is of utmost importance. These dedicated public servants become school board trustees because they are committed to supporting our students, our communities and public education.
Quality education opportunities in schools are one of the largest drivers of successful communities. The work of school board members directly impacts the school district, students, and parents, but it also touches the lives of nearly every resident in one way or another. The students of Forney ISD are very fortunate to have dedicated board members who work to shape policies that support innovative education for students.
The men and women serving the Forney Independent School District are President Keith Bell, Vice President Greg Pharris, Secretary Cheryl Mason; member Christopher Andrews, member Barbara Jo Green, member Chad Johnson and member Michael White.
