Forney ISD Announces New Principals
The Forney Independent School District (ISD) recently announced the appointment of new principals for several schools in the District. Campuses that will have new principals starting with the 2016-2017 school year include Brown Middle School, Criswell Elementary School and Henderson Elementary School.
Dr. Steve Chapman has been named the new principal of Brown Middle School. Dr. Chapman has 25 years of experience in education and has been with Forney ISD since 2001 when he joined the District as an Assistant Principal at the Forney Alternative Center for Education. In 2004, Dr. Chapman was named the principal at Henderson Elementary, which has experienced a great deal of academic success under his leadership. Prior to coming to Forney ISD, he was an assistant principal at Rockwall High School in Rockwall, Texas and served as an assistant superintendent over technology in Bland ISD in Bland, Texas.
Dr. Chapman received his Bachelor’s Degree in History and English from East Texas State University in Commerce, Texas and earned his Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University-Commerce, in Commerce, Texas. He earned his Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas.
Replacing Dr. Chapman as principal at Henderson Elementary School will be Mrs. Laurie Branch. Mrs. Branch is currently an assistant principal at Billie Stevenson Elementary School in Rockwall ISD.
Mrs. Branch comes to Forney ISD with 12 years of experience in education, beginning her career as a third grade teacher at Hector P. Garcia Elementary School in Temple ISD in Temple, Texas. Throughout her career, she has been a literacy coach, an administrative intern and a summer school principal. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas and her Master's Degree in Educational Administration at Texas A&M Commerce in Commerce, Texas.

​Mrs. Rachel Bonner has been named the new principal at Criswell Elementary School. Mrs. Bonner comes to Forney ISD from Mesquite ISD in Mesquite, Texas where she was the Assistant Principal at Achziger Elementary School. She began her career in 2002 as a fourth grade teacher at Pirrung Elementary School. In 2008, she was named the Title I/Instructional Specialist at Tosch Elementary School before being named the Testing Coordinator in 2010, also at Tosch Elementary School.

Her experience as a campus administrator began in 2011 when she was named the Assistant Principal at Gentry Elementary School. In 2013, she became the Assistant Principal at Achziger Elementary School.
Mrs. Bonner received a Bachelor’s Degree in Family and Consumer Sciences from East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma and a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Oklahoma. She earned her Master’s Degree in Education Administration in 2006 from Texas A&M Commerce.
